XOLO One’s Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Is Live

Becomes the first Indian company to roll out Android Lollipop firmware.

XOLO has really made its customers happy and hopeful today. The company rolled out the firmware for one of its most affordable smartphones, the XOLO One, that mimics Google’s Android One range.

The update delivers the Android 5.0 update underneath, with a couple of mandatory cosmetic changes to the UI. We have the new recents menu, notifications shade and the lock screen notifications that look similar to the Nexus devices.

More importantly there is ART, the Android runtime that made an appearance with KitKat and now runs on Lollipop by default. This makes the OS stutter-free and all those animations buttery smooth.

While we knew that an update was headed our way. We are simply impressed at the time that the company took to deliver the update for its affordable smartphone. While Cyanogen recently announced the update for Google’s MediaTek-powered Android One range, Android smartphone owners higher up the chain must be fuming by the fact that their brands have not delivered the same yet.

That said, we are pretty sure XOLO fans will have high hopes for their handsets as well. We are talking about all those handsets that XOLO announced in the past year, that run KitKat out of the box.

In order prove that this is not a PR trick XOLO will have to deliver the same to the rest of its smartphones; which is indeed where the real challenge lies.

You can head to the source link below and install the software by yourself as there is no news about an OTA update just yet.
