Rumour: Samsung May Announce A Mid-Range Alpha (SM-A500) Soon

With some watered-down specs and the same premium look and feel, this may after all be the cheaper variant of the recently launched Alpha smartphone.

A new Samsung handset has now entered the rumour mill, going by the model number SM-A500. Reports say, that the handset will be a mid-range one but will again sport a Super AMOLED 720p display along with a metal frame. Seems to us that Samsung may announce a cheaper mid-range GALAXY Alpha after all.

The rumour mill has managed to churn out quite a few details about the specs of this smartphone, none of which have been confirmed for now:

  • A 5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels
  • With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC
  • 16 GB of ROM along with micro SD memory card expansion
  • An 8 MP camera up front, with a 5 MP front-facer
  • All powered by a 2330 mAh non-removable battery complete with Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving mode

The handset is also expected to be waterproof and dust resistant, and will come with a metal frame, all of which leads us to believe that this could indeed be a cheaper version of the stylish GALAXY Alpha. Seems like Samsung seems to have an alternative strategy for this year after all. This includes handsets that lean more towards design than specs, along with the powerful Note 4 and Note 4 Edge that go all out with specs and design.
