iPhone 6 Press Image Finally Leaks; Skips On The Protruding Camera

Yes, you can type with your future iPhone 6 flat on the table.

 

We have been seeing the iPhone 6 in leaks over the past few months and if there was one thing we did not like it would have to be the protruding camera on the back. The protruding camera said to sport OIS (optical image stabilisation) on the bigger 5.5 inch iPhone clearly made no sense on the smaller 4.7 inch iPhone 6. Now, a press image leaked by China Telecom via its Weibo account has finally confirmed that we will indeed be seeing a flat iPhone 6 after all.

The image which was taken down quickly after being posted on China’s Weibo network clearly shows the final polished design of the iPhone 6. The handset is indeed a refined version of the prototype designs of the handset that have been flooding rumour mills from all these months. Perhaps what is most interesting is that the protruding camera is now gone. It was a design feature that showed up on every dummy unit that case makers were playing around with from the past couple of months. Looks like all them will have go back to the drawing board as the design certainly seems to have changed quite a bit.

The gaps for the antenna reception have slimmed down from an ugly 5mm to just 1. Also visible is the power button which now sits on the right side of the handset, along with the shiny Apple logo (which is supposed to be scratch-proof if nothing else) can also be seen in the image. Apart from the hardware, we can also see that the colour options have not changed since the iPhone 5s as well.

Indeed we have to give the image some credibility here, as China Telecom is no small fry. Apart from being Apple’s largest partner, rumours say that the telecom giant from China will also be the first to offer the iPhone 6 on this side of the globe; and that too as soon as the 20th of September post the 9th of September launch event.
