Apple Sends Out Invites For Oct 4 Event

iPhone 5 announcement seems likely.

The iPhone 5's highly anticipated announcement seems very much likely in around a week as Apple has broken its silence and sent out invites to reporters. The announcement seems even more likely because the email sent out to reporters yesterday states "Let's talk iPhone"! If the announcement happens as speculated, then the phone will retail in US stores in mid-October.

Also lending credibility to the speculation is the fact that AT&T has blocked employees from going on leave between October 3 and October 14, while Sprint has also done the same. Apple also has obviously done the same too, possibly to cope up with the increase in workload when such a huge launch event happens.

The iPhone 5 is said to have a teardrop design to allow for a slimmer and lighter model than the iPhone 4. It will be powered by Qualcomm chipsets and a dual-core A5 processor. Running on the latest iOS 5, it will feature support for the iCloud service to operate iTunes and provide wireless remote access to music from any computer or mobile device connected to the internet. It is also said to sport an 8 MP camera with an improved flash unit and 16 \ 32 \ 64 GB of internal storage.

The iPhone has propelled Apple from obscurity in the smartphone business just a few years ago into the stratosphere. With each successive generations of the iPhone proving more successful than the predecessor, it is not a surprise that the iPhone 5 is the most highly anticipated iPhone.
