Winstron’s Tiger Windows Phone 8.1 Handset Makes The Nokia 1520 Look Puny

Among other ODMs that showcased some budget and mid-range devices at Computex 2014, Winstron clearly grabbed everyone’s attention.

Microsoft had a number of ODM’s showcase their ideas of building Windows Phone 8.1 handsets at the Computex 2014 in Taiwan. Among many, Winstron an ODM manufacturer displayed a rather massive handset dubbed the Tiger, that comes with some refreshed internals and a gigantic screen which would even make Samsung cringe.

If you were wondering who is Winstron? And why haven’t you heard of the brand before? This is because Winstron is an ODM manufacturer. Meaning that they design and manufacture handsets for companies like Sony, Samsung and Apple; similar to Foxconn.

Anyways, Winstron’s Tiger as reported by Mobilegeeks.de was indeed an attention grabbing handset. The device comes with humongous 6.45 inch Full HD display, is powered by a quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC and even comes with front-facing speakers; in a package that looks a lot slimmer than the Lumia 1520.

Winstron did not reveal too many details about the device, considering that this is clearly a showcase of what they are capable of designing and building for the Windows Phone 8.1 platform.

Other notable devices at Microsoft’s ODM showcase included Blu’s 5.0 inch and 4.0 inch handsets, the Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 DUO and the Billy 4.7 by Yezz which is named after Bill Gates. Clearly, manufacturers are indeed showing a lot of interest after the launch of Windows Phone 8.1 considering that the platform and the apps now seem to have matured.
