Website of Petitioner against Facebook Hacked

Owner alleges that hackers wanted him to refrain from pursuing the court case.

Islamic Scholar Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasmi who pulled 22 social networking websites including Facebook, Google, Yahoo! to court for publishing objectionable content is now a victim of online hacking himself. A message that said, "Probably best not to piss the social networking sites off!" appeared on the news and updates column of his website www.fatwaonline.org. The message has apparently been active for the past one week, and Qasmi now plans to file a complaint with the police. Apart from the post, he also alleged that some sections on his website were also not working properly. He goes on to say that the hackers wanted him to refrain from pursuing the court case any further.

The website is run by the Islamic Peace Foundation of India, New Delhi, and has over 5,000 pages.  Qasmi says, "Fatwaonline.in, besides guiding people on matters related to religion and society is also a very forceful means of rapport building between Islamic Peace Foundation of India and common Muslims". An online dispute solving mechanism, it helps him to hear 150 cases every day pertaining to Islamic law and issuing fatwas. So much for opposing freedom of speech and expression, that he seems to be facing a gag for now.
