Vivo To Include A ‘True Tone’ Dual-LED Flash On Its Upcoming Flagship

After giving us a few tantalising details about the new X-Zoom's hardware specs, Vivo now sheds some light on its camera unit.

 

It was just a week ago that Vivo, a Chinese handset manufacturer, teased us with the details of their upcoming flagship smartphone. If you do not remember Vivo, they are guys who built the world’s first QHD screened smartphone, and this time around for their upcoming flagship, Vivo’s focus like every other manufacturer is on the camera.

A Weibo account leaked a picture that confirmed that the new Vivo ‘X-Zoom’ (as the rumours suggest) will sport a dual-LED ‘true tone’ flash. This is very similar to what Apple (and now HTC) offer at the back of their phones — one white LED and the other yellow — to deliver a well-balanced flash. Such a system basically fixes the problem of ending up with blue or yellow tinted images that in so many cases deters us from firing the flash.

The last teaser gave us a rather precise description about the hardware specs of the upcoming device - A Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which confirmed that Vivo was a serious competitor in the spec race. The processor mentioned, was a 8974 AC, like the one in the international GALAXY S5, and will be clocked to 2.5 GHz instead of the standard 2.3 GHz.

Another point to note is that since Vivo was the first manufacturer to use a QHD (2560 x1440 pixel) panel on its Vivo Xplay, it is makes sense to believe that their upcoming device will include the same. So all-in-all, the device will be a direct competitor to the Oppo Find 7. From what we can see, 2014 is going to be a very competitive year for Android handset manufacturers indeed.
