Apple Will Launch 4.7 & 5.5 Inch iPhones As Early As September

Just like the iPad, you'll be able to choose between two screen sizes for the iPhone.

Apple is reportedly working on the next iteration of its iPhone which will come in two display sizes of 4.7 and 5.5 inch, with a launch scheduled as early as September, according to Japanese business news publication Nikkei.

The report suggests that component manufacturers are already ramping up production of components like the fingerprint sensor and LCD driver chips. Mass production of the two new LCD screens will kick off in the April-June quarter.

Apart from sporting larger screens, the display resolution of the two new devices is expected to be much higher than the current phone. This seems like a logical step, given that Apple will most likely maintain the same pixel density of the screens.

While there have been an abundance of rumours surrounding Apple's upcoming iPhone 6, a pattern is beginning to show. Apart from Nikkei, reports from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal too have suggested that the next iPhone will come in two screen sizes.

Launching the iPhone in two different screen sizes, Apple might be looking to replicate the success it has enjoyed with the iPad lineup. Also given the growing fad for phablets, the company could be looking to take the fight to Samsung's Galaxy Note line of devices.
