Rumour: Samsung GALAXY S5 Zoom Will Be Considerably Slimmer Than Its Predecessor

Samsung's next camera phone is rumored to have a slimmer construction and 10x optical zoom.

The Samsung GALAXY S4 Zoom was one of the ugliest devices to be launched in 2013. Although it was supposed to be a camera phone, it looked like a mutated point and shoot. The phone was heavy and clunky to use which is why it barely found any buyers.

A Polish blog now confirms that there is definitely a new Zoom in the works, tagged as the GALAXY S5 Zoom. The informant somehow managed to get paper notes as cameras were not allowed to what he refers as a presentation event.

One must take this information with a pinch of salt, but the specs do sound interesting and in many ways believable. We begin with the lens, which will be on par with some pocket-friendly point and shoot cameras. What's more interesting is the flat lens system with 10x optical zoom is now backed by a 20 MP CMOS sensor. These optics will be supported the Xenon flash, which should allow for some great party shots.

Next up is the replacement for last year's qHD display. The S5 Zoom will most probably feature a 1280 x 720 pixel HD display. The device will be powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM.

The zoom ring will be shifted from around the lens to your thumb. The GALAXY S5 Zoom will run Android KitKat out-of-the-box.
