Apple Working On "Intelligent" System To Improve iPhone's Battery Life

A recent patent-filing points to an active system that can optimise battery usage by monitoring your usage pattern.

It’s impressive how an iPhone 5s manages to deliver long battery life with a its 1560 mAh Li-Po pack. The credit goes to iOS 7’s optimisation, which includes advanced multi-tasking feature. The OS basically observes your usage patterns — it also monitors the time when you launch a certain app. Learning from these observations, the platform decides when to update a particular app.

It seems that Apple is planning to go a step further to improve the iPhone's battery life. A recent patent-filing points to an advanced battery power-saving feature. With this new system in place, iDevice will be able to monitor your location and manage the battery consumption accordingly. Depending on whether you are at work or home, the system will "intelligently" select the list of apps to be updated. It will also remind you to plug in your device for charging.

This definitely sounds promising, but lets hope that this system won't affect the performance of Apple's iDevices. As we all know, it’s always a give take situation when it comes to optimisation.
