Smartphone Maker One Plus Reveals Its StyleSwap Cover Options

However, the final phone design still remains a mystery.

 

OnePlus has been dropping hints for months about its upcoming handset called the One. The company has one philosophy — never settle (we're guessing they don't have an office). With this, OnePlus has come up with a number of novel ideas, which will make for a great handset.

Hand selecting a number of components, while keeping their fans informed about why they choose the same is something OnePlus believes in. Today, the company has revealed what it thinks is the apt solution for all those annoying cases that people slap on the back of their phones.

OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, took to the company’s blog to explain that it literally makes no sense to create a beautiful phone and then hide it to protect it. The team has come up with a solution for this by creating a number of easy-to-swap back-panels called ‘StyleSwap Covers’.

So far there are five options with different textures that the company plans on bringing in for launch.

  • Silk
  • Sandstone
  • Denim
  • Bamboo
  • Kevlar

The purpose behind it, is to use a different cover, depending on your phone’s usage. If you're heading for a long journey, where rough use is inevitable, you can go with the Kevlar option. On the other hand, if you want something more pampering, you could opt for the silk cover. All, except for the Silk and Sandstone options will be made from the actual material.
