IRCTC App Now Exclusively On Windows 8 Devices

More apps for the plaform, the better.

"But there are no apps on Windows Phones!", if this has been your cry for some time, no longer! Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has exclusively launched its ticket booking apps not only for Windows 8 Phone but all Windows 8 devices in collaboration with Microsoft.

What can you do with the app?
- Make train enquiries.
- Plan your travel.
- Make railway reservations.
- Check PNR status.
- Check booking/cancellation history.
- Check ticket availability.

Strangely, the app will not work between 8 am till noon and 11:30 pm to 12:30 am. A conspiracy to stifle the experience? No, apparently this is in line with the existing railway guidelines for e-ticketing.

Using Windows platform strength, you'll get to see visual maps of train routes, Windows Phone live tiles will light up as train tickets, and users will be able to access saved traveller profiles from multiple devices.

Looks like Microsoft has already begun to stretch its muscle already, after the buy out of Nokia. Good going Microsoft, this is the strength that Windows Phone 8 always needed, but now just don’t load it with bloat.

Download the Windows 8 phone app here and the Windows 8 desktop app here.
