Lava Launches Low-Cost Smartphones Under Rs 6000

The Lava 3G 356 is priced at Rs 4499 and the Lava 3G 402 has a price tag of Rs 5499.

 

Lava mobiles has launched new budget 3G smartphones called the Lava 3G 356 and the Lava 3G 402 that run on the newer Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating platform (supporting the Over-The-Air firmware upgrading mechanism). Both these devices are powered by a dual-core processors and are currently available for purchase.

The Lava 3G 356 is priced at Rs 4499 whereas the Lava 3G 402 is priced at Rs 5499. The key technical specification wise break-up of both the devices, according to an official press release:

Lava 3G 356:

  • 3.5" capacitive HVGA touch screen having 480 8 320 pixels
  • Android 4.2 Jelly bean operating system
  • 1 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor on a MediaTek 6572 SoC
  • 1.3MP rear camera, and a front VGA snapper
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 512 MB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (802.11 g/b/n), 3G and micro USB connectivity
  • 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, of unknown talk time

Lava 3G 402:

  • 4" WVGA touchscreen display, having 480 x 800 pixels
  • Android 4.2 Jelly bean operating system
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor, on a MediaTek 6572 SoC
  • 3 MP rear camera, and a 1.3 MP front camera
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 512 MB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (802.11 g/b/n), 3G and micro USB connectivity
  • 1500 mAh battery, of unknown talk time

The technical specifications of both the Lava smartphones are modest, and the smartphones are suitable for people wanting to flaunt a cheap Android 4.2 device. Performance wise, these smartphones may not please, as an Android 4.2 platform is not known to perform smoothly when coupled with a 256 MB RAM, which both of the new Lava 3G phones have.
