Huawei Launches A Freakishly Huge 6.1” Ascend Mate For Rs 25,000

Features a quad-core CPU, 8 megapixel camera, and Android Jelly Bean.

The downpour of oversized phones continues, as Huawei unleashes its 6.1" smartphone India. Named as Ascend Mate, the handset is powered by 1.5 Ghz quad-core CPU. For photography, there's an 8 megapixel camera. Other than that, you get 2 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and A-GPS. To keep this 6.1” monster powered, Huawei has thrown in a 4050 mAh battery.

On the software front, the phone runs Android 4.1 (Jelly bean) out of the box. The Ascend Mate boasts of One-Hand UI, which supposedly allows easy single-handed operation. Moreover, there's an Easy Panel that gives quick access to notes, calculator, messages, and video playback. No prize for guessing that the Huawei Ascend Mate competes with Samsung's GALAXY Mega 6.3. While I haven't used any of these devices, at least on paper Huawei's offering sounds better with its quad-core CPU. Moreover, priced at Rs. 25,000, the Ascend Mate is 6.5k cheaper than the Mega 6.3.

Specifications:
