Zebronics Enters Tablet Segment, Unveils Two Zebpads

The Zebpads come in two screen size options, voice-calling models on the anvil.

Zebronics, a brand name normally associated with computers, now brought out with two tablet computers for the first time. Called Zebpad 7C and Zebronics 9C, these devices incorporate 7-inch and 9-inch displays respectively with 5-point multi-touch. Zebronics' Zebpads are driven by a 1GHz A8 Cortex processor, along with a Mali-400MP 3D GPU for a fair degree of multimedia support. The operating system in these tablets is Android 4.0.4 initially, but Zebronics says that the Android 4.1 update would follow soon.

The similarity between the Zebpad 7C and Zebpad 9C doesn't end here, and extends to the 2MP rear camera and the front VGA snapper that these models sport. For connectivity, there are Wi-Fi, and 3G (via external USB dongle). The tabs come with 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB and 3200 mAh battery.

Zebronics's Zebpad 7C is priced at Rs 5499, comes with a 1-year warranty and is available at Zebronics' e-commerce site. The 9-inch model Zebpad 9c is expected to start retailing in stores by end of May and its price is expected to be announced at that time. Zebronics also stated in its press release that it would shortly be expanding the Zebpad line of tablets with models that incorporate voice-calling.
