Rumour: Samsung GALAXY S4 mini Upcoming, New Details Leak

Scaled-down smartphone could come with a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD screen, dual-core CPU and Android Jelly Bean; will probably be launched in the middle of 2013.

Hot on the heels of the launch of the GALAXY S4, Samsung is said to be preparing the GALAXY S4 mini, which will be a shrunk-down version of the flagship smartphone. The leaked info comes from a article on GSMArena, which reported the existence of four variants and even went as far as naming model numbers - GT-I9190, GT-I9192, GT-I9195, and GT-I9198, as per Korean Twitter user st7761's tweet. Apparently, the user found this info on Samsung's support page and posted the screenshot.

The I9192 is said to be a dual-SIM version, while the I9195 must have LTE, and is therefore presumably for the Chinese market. These inferences are made based on the last digit of the model number, about which the Korean manufacturer is known to be quite consistent. The other details that are mentioned about the purported device include a 4.3" Super AMOLED screen with pixel dimensions of 540x960 @256ppi, Android 4.2.2, and a 1.6 GHz dual-core CPU.

This is expected to be a watered down version of the SGS4, just as the SGS3 mini was, in comparison to the SGS3. The looks can also be expected to be similar and you shouldn't be surprised if this literally appears like a scaled-down version of the SGS4 as was reported by SamMobile.com last week. In fact, it could even have been confused with the SGS3 mini if the screen size wasn't larger. There is no reason why the SGS4 mini shouldn't exist as a lot of consumers will be looking for a lower-priced version of the SGS4, so you need not necessarily take this rumour with a pinch of salt. The GSMArena report mentions that the device could be announced officially in June or July this year.
