Security Breach At Zendesk: Hackers Got Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest User Email Addresses

No passwords suspected to be revealed; no reports of any email account being compromised have come to light.

It seems like hackers have been working overtime this week. After Burger King fell prey to a hack attack on Twitter, customer service software provider Zendesk in a blog post said that hackers penetrated into its system and accessed data from three of its customers. Wired reports these three to be Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr.

Zendesk added that hackers had access to email addresses from these three vendors. The hacked emails come from the customers for support databases. The Wired report also suggests that some phone numbers may also have been compromised, but no passwords were leaked in the process.

Tumblr has already notified its users of the attack via email. The email adds: "The subject lines of your emails to Tumblr Support may have included the address of your blog which could potentially allow your blog to be unwillingly associated with your email address.

Any other information included in the subject lines of emails you’ve sent to Tumblr Support may be exposed. We recommend you review any correspondence you’ve addressed to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected],[email protected], [email protected], or [email protected]."

Pintrest and Twitter also sent out emails, warning its users to secure their accounts. However, no reports of any email account being compromised have come to light. Yet, keep an eye open for any malicious email.
