11th Aug 2017Have you recently come across a pop up on your Facebook feeds about an app called ‘Sarahah’? Well, if so, you may be wondering what exactly is that. Don’t worry. Millions of web users are actually clueless about this new app that’s taking the web on a viral outage.
Yup. ‘Sarahah’ is everywhere. This is, in-fact, an app available for download on both Android and iOS platforms, though the history it unfolds is a little short. It was launched on the Google Play Store in February this year and in just a few months, the app has managed to get over 50 lakh downloads.
But, what is this app all about?
‘Sarahah’ is a messaging app that basically works on a simple nature of anonymity. Developed by a Saudi Arabian developer Zain al-Abidin Tawfiq, the app allows you to send messages to any random person who has the app installed. In the sense, this app won’t reveal the receiver as to who actually sent the message. Well, however, if you are wondering, 'Sarahah' is an Arabic word meaning 'honesty'.
Apparently, if you check around the app's official website, you can see that the developer claims, "Sarahah helps you in discovering your strengths and areas for improvement by receiving honest feedback from your employees and your friends in a private manner." This clearly shows that the app's main intention is to get honest feedback from your coworkers and friends.
So, is this ‘being anonymous’ good?
Well, if you are about to confess something, it is definitely good. However, if not used properly, this app can definitely prove risky.
And, how to use the app?
First and foremost, you would want to install app. If you an Android user, you will have to head to Google Play Store, or if you own an iPhone, download it from the App Store.
Once you download and install the app, you will have to register with your email address, and you should be good to go.
You can then, share your ‘Sarahah’ profile on any of the social media platform so that you can inform your friends that you are on the messaging app.
Next, you just wait for a random message to pop up sent by any of your friends. Well, the app doesn’t show up any information about the sender. Well, it is worth noting that, the app only allows you to receive and send fresh message. You cannot reply to any messages and have a conversation.
