19th Oct 2015We have been witnessing lately a tremendous change in the way we compute - from bulky personal computers to laptops, palm computers, smartphones, tablets and the recent 2-in-1 range of devices.
But, breaking the odds, Intel recently launched a portable PC which runs almost similar to a standard computer, but it runs on a mini stick, known as a Stick PC.
These HDMI enable dongle-type personal computers enable the travelling users to work on-the-go by simply plugging them on to the television sets which come with a HDMI port.
Since then, we have been witnessing a couple of these devices in the market and here is a list of 5 good PC stick we feel you can try.
1. Intel Compute Stick
This is the device which initially set the standard for the PC on a stick. Powered by a quad center Intel Atom Z3735F processor, 2 GB RAM and upto 32 GB eMMC storage, the Compute Stick comes with a microSD slot which means you can easily expand your internal storage space while it also comes with Bluetooth 4.0, mouse support and WiFi connectivity. The Intel Compute Stick runs on the standard Windows 8.1 OS. You can buy it here.
2. iBall Splendo
Much like the Intel Compute Stick, the iBall Splendo too comes with a 2 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, HDMI connector on one side along with a WiFi, Bluetooth and a microSDXC card reader. However, the iBall Splendo lacks the fan unlike the Intel Compute Stick that makes the Stick PC noiseless while being used. But, the lack of fan is also having a negative impact on the device's performance, as the device may get heated up easily. Again, the iBall Splendo runs on the standard Windows 8.1 OS. You can buy it here.
3. Lenovo Ideacentre Stick 300
While this device is still not available for purchase in India, you can pre-order it on the Lenovo India webshop. Speaking about the technical specifications, the device comes with almost similar features like the other two, Compute Stick and Splendo. Even, the operating system seems to be the same as the above two.
4. Panache Air PC 32 GB
Unlike the other competitors in the market, the Panache Air PC gives you the experience of the standard Windows 10 OS right on your TV Screen. The device is being powered by a quad core Intel Z3735F processor, 32 GB memory, 2 GB RAM and a microSD card slot which can be expanded upto 128 GB. The Air PC also supports WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity with 2 built in USB ports and also supports 1080p video output. You can buy it here.
While these four Stick PCs are currently available in the Indian market to purchase, it is worth noting here about the Asus VivoStick PC TS10 which has been currently listed on the company's official website. According to the listing, the device is said to be running on Windows 10 Home while it comes with 32 GB internal storage which seems to be a standard in this category.
However, there seems to be no official announcement about the launch and availability of the stick PC by Asus.
