A rare celestial phenomenon is taking place even as you are reading this report. The planet Venus is currently in transit against the Sun, meaning that it can be seen moving across the solar disc as seen from Earth, in very much the same way as a solar eclipse. The difference is that Venus, although much larger than our Moon, is situated very far and hence will appear as a minute black dot against the surface of the Sun. While weather is likely to play spoil-sport, this phenomenon can still be observed online.
