Facebook Introduces Instant Articles On Its Mobile App

The feature brings interactive stories from news organisations directly to the news feed.

Facebook has recently announced its new feature known as 'Instant Articles' allowing news organisations to publish fresh articles directly on the news feed.

According to Facebook official blog, the social media giant is working with nine news organisations - The New York Times, National Geographic, BuzzFeed, NBC, The Atlantic, The Guardian, BBC News, Spiegel and Bild to provide their news articles instantly for Facebook users especially for those who use their mobile app.

Facebook seems to be boasting that the so-called instant article will be loading up to 10 times faster than they normally would since readers stay on Facebook itself rather than follow a link to another site.

Also, the blog post has it that, the publishers can sell ads in their articles and keep the revenue or they can choose to use Facebook's Audience Network to monetise unsold inventory.

So, with this new feature being rolled out, Facebook is trying to engage its users more and also we believe this to be a new publishing format as people will not be visiting by any chance the websites or blogs of those news organisation.

The users will be reading articles then and there itself right in the news feed. This definitely increases the time spent on news feed.

However, while some news organisations have shown their interest, some others might not seem so comfortable with the whole thing. Only time can tell us everything.
