Microsoft's Unveils RemoteIE To Test Web Pages In IE On Any OS

Tech giant Microsoft has just released a developer tool called RemoteIE which allows running the latest version of Internet Explorer on Android, iOS and OS X devices. The company is hoping the move will promote developers to build websites that are compatible with its browser, and the service is limited to just testing.

Developers will be able to run Microsoft's browser preview builds without requiring them to be on the most current version of Windows. RemoteIE runs on the company's cloud computing platform Azure, as it realized its not viable to expect all developers to use its Windows platform.

Microsoft says that the service is restricted to conserve its server resources, and that RemoteIE will be restricted to testing. Any session idle for 10 minutes will be logged out, and no session can last for more than 60 minutes. Moreover, those are a few tradeoffs considering that RemoteIE is free, and Microsoft focus is purely on getting more devs to make their websites compatible with Internet Explorer.

Long story short, if you're a web developer, regardless of the system or software environment you use, you can now easily test your website for compatibility with Microsoft's browser. Users of RemoteIE will have access to the latest builds of Internet Explorer that are being tested on the Windows 10 Technical Preview.
