IndieGoGo Online Campaign Aims To Fund Tipster @Evleaks

He was one of the most reputed leakers and when he called it quits it came in as a shock. In an attempt to help tipster @evleaks, who quit due to multiple sclerosis and financial conditions, a tech community has launched a funding campaign to help him with his medical expenses.

Evan Blass was the person known as @evleaks and the campaign is started by TK Tech News on the IndieGoGo page. On the campaign page it notes, “This campaign was started to help one of the most influential tech journalists and one of the top leakers of mobile hardware in our time. This fund is to help Evan with medical costs and get him the necessary funds to be able to get healthy and return to the tech community.”

When we checked the campaign had managed to raise $4,262 out of the $1,00,000 goal. This incident throws light on one of the harsh realities of the web journalism where one struggles to find funds despite having a big following.

During his interview with The Next Web, he said that he had tried sponsored tweets, accepted donations and pushing folks towards his website, but found users had little incentive to visit after seeing his pics on Twitter and across the web.
