Gionee Rolls Out Android 4.4 KitKat Update For The Elife E7 Mini

The update will not be available OTA, instead users will have to take their devices down to a authorised Gionee service center.

 

Chinese phone manufacturer Gionee has rolled out an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its Elife E7 Mini smartphone in India. However, the update isn't available to users over-the-air (OTA), instead it needs to be installed manually by taking the device to an authorized Gionee service center.

Apart from getting the many goodies of Android KitKat, users will also be treated to a new home screen design. Gionee has also updated its Amigo UI with claimed improvements in security. With the new update, users will also notice that the company hasn't loaded the device with as many games, freeing up space.

The Elife E7 Mini was launched in April, and is the second device after the S5.5 from Gionee to get updated to Android KitKat. The device features a 4.7-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, the same one found in its larger sibling, the Elife E7.

A 13MP swivel camera, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage make up the rest of the major specifications.
