Karbonn Launches Its Opium N7 And N9 Budget Smartphones

Both devices run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and are available exclusively on HomeShop18.com.

Homegrown smartphone manufacturer Karbonn has launched two entry-level smartphones under its new Opium range, dubbed the N7 and N9. Both devices are available exclusively through e-commerce website HomeShop18, and are priced at Rs 5,999 and Rs 8,999 respectively.

The Opium N7 features a 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) display, shielding a 1.2GHz quad-core display and 512MB of RAM. Internal storage memory stands at 4GB while the device also supports microSD cards up to 32GB.

A 5MP camera along with a flash module are housed at the rear of the N7, while there's also a front-facing camera of unspecified resolution. All that hardware is powered by a 1,600mAh battery, while connectivity options include dual SIMs, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Opium N9 features a 5-inch HD (720x1,280 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. Also under the hood is 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage memory, which is expandable to a maximum of 32GB via a microSD card.

An 8MP camera with flash module adorn the rear of the Opium N9, while there's also a 2MP front-facing shooter. Connectivity options include dual SIMs, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while a 2,000mAh battery powers the device.

Both smartphones under Karbonn's Opium range of devices run on Google's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is rather outdated considering the launch of Android L is just around the corner. Despite their compelling specifications, there are already competing devices running on Android 4.4 KitKat that can be had at a similar cost.
