Coming Soon: Octa-Core HTC Desire 616 With Dual SIM

After launching the Desire 516 just a few weeks ago, HTC has set its eyes on a slightly higher segment.

A few days after announcing Desire 516, the Taiwanese smartphone maker that posted profits after a long time this quarter, has now announced another handset tagged Desire 616.

The dual SIM handset is clearly not a premium nor a mid-range one. It comes with some budget specifications and even though it is priced slightly higher at S$298 (approx. Rs 14,300) the Desire 616 seems to be a worthy competitor.

The Desire 616 sports a 5 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixel) IPS touch screen display that is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-core processor by MediaTek, coupled with 1 GB of RAM. There is just 4 GB of internal memory, but then again it is expandable up to 32 GB thanks to the presence if a micro SD card slot.

The dual SIM handset comes with a 8 MP primary camera on the back which also includes an LED flash, and a 2 MP front-facing unit. Powering all of the above is a 2000 mAh battery that should get you through a day of use.

The handset looks pretty much like the Desire 610, minus the twin front-facing speakers. The 616 even comes with some HTC goodies like BlinkFeed, Android Jelly Bean (with Sense 5.1 UI on top) and a plastic body.

Expect the device to come in grey and white when available which should happen soon considering that the phone already launched in China a month ago.
