Talk: A New Messaging App For Path Users On iOS And Android

Sadly you can only message your friends who are on the Path network.

Path, the clutter free social network has finally launched its standalone messaging app called Talk for its users on iOS and Android. The service was recently launched by the social network but was earlier restricted to the app which would need you to load the whole app to go through your messages. The Talk app for Path users comes with the usual bells and whistles but adds its own sweet touches which make it really unique.

Talk, apart from allowing you to converse either one-on-one or in a group form, will also allow you to check one another’s Ambient Status. An Ambient Status is acts like a beacon, letting your friends or family know what you are up to, like if you are walking, running, listening to music, in transit or even near another friend. A pretty cool and new feature that is good if you are okay with letting your friends know what you are up to all the time.

Also added are Quick Replies that will let you communicate with your friends without the need for tapping on your keyboard. You can nudge a friend, acknowledge a message, start a call without the need to type things out.

Last but not the least, is the settings menu which has been simplified to place everything front-and-centre at the bottom of your screen.

We think it’s a brilliant app; it’s just that with Facebook around, there really aren’t too many users on Path to begin with. Also the messaging app only allows you to connect with people from the network, meaning that neither WhatsApp nor Facebook users will switch to the same.

But if you are on the Path’s network there is currently nothing like Talk out there in the app stores.
