Tesla's Gull-Winged Model X Will Go Into Production In Early 2015

Despite all the advancements in electric car technology, it's the Model X's gull wing doors that has got us raging.

American all-electric carmaker Tesla has confirmed that its Model X SUV will begin rolling off production lines in early 2015. More importantly, the company said that the gull-wing doors showcased on the prototype in 2012 will make in onto the production version of the car.

The Model X will also come with all-wheel drive as standard. Just when you thought its electric roots would mean ditching everything 'fun' in the name of efficiency. Given that the Model X is made by Tesla, considered as the king of under-promising and over-delivering, none of this should really surprise us, but it does.

The gull-wing doors, or 'falcon-wing' doors as Tesla refers to them, will be the most defining character of the Model X. Despite being only the second model to roll off the company's production lines, we can be assured of some earth shattering performance based on the reputation of the Model S alone.

Tesla has said that early-bookers of the Model X will receive the car early next year, but given that the company is already struggling to keep up with demand of the Model S, it could be some time before everyone (who can afford it) can get their hands on the car. Still, it has gull-wing doors, and all we can say is 'we like'.
