Google Now To Suggest Calendar Events Based On Gmail Conversations

The new feature will work in a way similar to how Google Now pulls information about your flight schedules.

 

Google is reportedly testing out a new feature on its all-knowing Now service, that suggests calendar events based on your Gmail conversations. The feature is much like the long rumoured 'inferred events' functionality, and creates a handy card that will remind you of your plans even if you forget about them.

For example, if the service infers that you're planning a day out based on an email thread, it will automatically turn that into a card and ask if you want to add the event to your calendar. According to Android Police, for now Google uses information from your Gmail account, but is unclear if they'll add more services like Hangouts in the future.

The inferred events feature isn't that much different from how Google Now pulls information about flight tickets and hotel reservations from your Gmail account. If you find the service a bit too intrusive, you could always switch off the 'event suggestion' function in Google Now settings.

Roll out for the new feature as with most other Google services and updates will be staggered. If you have Google Now turned on and haven't already opted out of getting event suggestion, you could see it soon.
