The One Plus One Gets Delayed Again Over A Security Issue

The delay is credited to a vulnerability found lurking in the OpenSSL software tool, the same one that caused the Heartbleed scare.

One Plus One, the fantastic high-specs, low-cost smartphone was supposed to be launched back in May, but has been plagued with delays ever since. While the manufacturer has admitted that it is still 'perfecting some final issues', software partner Cyanogen has provided some helpful clarification.

According to Engadget, Abhisek Devkota (aka Ciwrl) took to Reddit crediting the delay to security vulnerabilities discovered lurking in the OpenSSL software tool. This is the same OpenSSL package that took center stage during the Heartbleed scare.

The issue was made public on June 5 and led to One Plus putting a pause on shipments of the One. The company is looking to create and re-certify a more secure build of Cyanogen, soon after which it will resume shipments.

There has been a huge surge for demand ever since the One Plus One was launched, due to its $300 dollar price tag and flagship smartphone specifications. So far the biggest complaint about the phone has been the lack of availability, rather than any of its almost non-existent flaws.
