Instagram Moves From ‘Selfies’ To Photography With The 6.0 Update

New creative tools clearly show that the company wants to attract audiences who are a bit serious about photography.

Instagram has updated its Android and iOS apps to version 6.0, bringing in some new and interesting features. Gone are the days when you clicked a selfie or a scene and slapped a filter on to it and tapped the upload button, as the new creative photo editing tools will now allow you to tune photo to perfection.

The creative suite of tools will ensure better control over your images. It’s fairly simple to use as well; you click a photo, select a filter of your choice and then tap the little wrench-like icon to edit your photo even further. The editing tools will allow you to adjust the brightness, contrast, warmth, saturation and much more helping achieve the right level of balance in your images.

Instagram 6.0’s creative tools kind of remind us of Nokia’s Creative Suite which works in a similar way. The update is only available for iOS and Android users for now and clearly, we don’t seem to think that Windows Phone users would be losing out on much; thanks to the plethora of Nokia’s photo editing apps.

Seems unnecessary if you ask us, people simply love to click and post and would rarely find the time to tweak images on Instagram. Unless of course Instagram seems to have other plans and wants to attract photography buffs into a network that’s filled to the brim with selfie-lovers.
