HTC W8 To Bring BoomSound And Duo Camera To Windows Phone

The rumoured Verizon-bound handset by HTC will bring some premium HTC features to the Windows Phone space.

EvLeaks had recently teased about an upcoming HTC Windows Phone 8.1 handset called the HTC W8. HTC has been focusing on building profits from its Android handsets, something that the company has clearly mastered now.

The company has been coming up with refined versions of its older technologies like BoomSound and the newer UltraPixel camera which has now turned into Duo Camera on the HTC One M8. So what do you do with all these patented technologies? Well, you apply them to another ecosystem.

Twitter leaker EvLeaks has now hinted that HTC is reportedly planning on introducing BoomSound and Duo Camera from the HTC One M8 into its upcoming handset, tagged as the HTC W8. As we all know, HTC BoomSound does indeed provide better sound quality thanks to the position and the software that goes behind the hardware. The same does not go so well for the Duo Camera which still seems to be a gimmick that many have yet to see the practical advantages of.

Both of these HTC technologies will surely blend well if introduced to the Windows Phone ecosystem which currently lacks hardware innovation (excluding Nokia’s PureView tech). We are clearly excited to see another player heading back to the Windows Phone ecosystem and hope that they make their innovations worthwhile.

As for the HTC W8 being Verizon only, we are sure that it will release globally, similar to what happened with the Nokia Lumia Icon which is now the Lumia 930.
