HTC One M8 Prime Is No More; Say Hello To The One M8 Plus

Twitter leaker claims that development on the QHD version of the One M8 has been indefinitely suspended.

Twitter leaker @EvLeaks took to the social network a few hours ago claiming that HTC has suddenly pulled the plug on the upcoming QHD specd device. The HTC Prime which was supposed to sport a Quad HD (2560 x 1660 pixel) display and an Aluminium Silicon Carbide construction will possible change its name to the HTC One M8 Plus.

Yes, as 9to5Google puts it, there have indeed been multiple devices in development at HTC. The One M8 Prime was just one of the many configurations that are being tested. Apparently, the focus has now shifted to the One M8 Plus which is supposed to bring in water and dust resistance to the series. The One M8 Plus as sources point out will deliver a 5.2 inch display with the highest pixel count to date.

The device which is pegged to launch in September and will compete directly with the LG G3 and the Oppo Find 7, which are the only two players in the international market to sport a QHD display.

The Find 7’s availability in markets is still unheard of, so for now LG’s move indeed turned out to be good for them. The handset only lacks the water and dust resistance but comes with that stunning QHD display and the quad-core 801 Snapdragon processor. Unless of course Samsung launches the GALAXY S5 Prime soon.
