After CarPlay, Apple To Bring Smart Home Features To iOS

Expect an announcement to be made at the upcoming WWDC next week.

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2014 is just a week away and the Financial Times has reported that Apple will be announcing its latest creation in the form of home automation with its iOS devices. The company introduced CarPlay last year, bringing a better UI and in-car integration with iPhones and this year the focus seems to have shifted to something bigger.

Certainly this is not an area that other manufacturers have not tapped into before. Samsung and LG have smart home systems in place but are certainly a lot more complicated to set up.

The new features will supposedly allow iOS users to turn on the TV, fidget with security systems and even control the air conditioning temperature straight from your iDevice. Obviously there would indeed be limited support at the beginning, but considering that this is Apple, we are pretty sure that they will be able to pull it off. Apple is already reported to be working with hardware manufacturers to create certified products; but we think that the company will indeed introduce a piece of hardware or a software service to connect it all together.

Talking about software, expect Apple to put Siri to work for controlling and monitoring all those features as well.
