Lenovo Is All Geared Up To Announce Its First Windows Phone Device

Expect the device to fit into the low-mid segment.

It has now been confirmed that Lenovo will indeed be announcing its first Windows Phone 8.1 device later this year. The device is obviously the result of the announcement that was made by Microsoft at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) about its partnership with Lenovo and eight other manufacturers earlier this year.

The news comes from the German website geeks.de who confirmed the same during an interview with Lui Jun, President of Lenovo’s Mobile Division. There are not too many details about the handset as of now, but like the rest of Lenovo’s line up, expect a low-mid segment device.

Microsoft seems to working really hard to increase the penetration of Windows Phone handsets in markets around the globe and such an announcement proves that things indeed seem to be working in their favour.

Apart from the mid-range Windows Phone handset, Lui Jun said that Lenovo will also be entering the wearables market at about the same time as the WP handset. Whether the company will launch an Android Wear-powered smartwatch or one that runs on custom made software, only time will tell.
