Google+ For Android To Get A Major Update; Brings A New UI And A New Stories Feature

New UI makes navigation a lot simpler and now goes full screen.

Dave Besbris, VP of Engineering for Google+ announced via a post about some new upcoming features and a brand new UI for Google+ for Android. The update supposedly makes navigation easier and will also allow you to make gif images on the go.

The update brings a refreshed UI with new navigation that makes it easier to switch between circles and get to other places in the app faster. Profiles now display total content views which you can always choose to show or hide. Big photo libraries are now supported and a new scrollbar allows you to zip through photos both back and forth in time. There is even a gif creator that will allow you to create gifs in the Photos app by simply selecting Motion or Mix.

Perhaps what is the newest addition here is the inclusion of Google+ Stories. The feature will combine your photos, videos and the geotags of the places that you visit into stunningly beautiful travelogues. Click on the example below to have a look.

Also included is a new pencil icon which is said to make sharing a lot simpler. The entire app now goes full screen and hides away the menu altogether, letting you focus on the content. We guess that the Google+ app is one of Google’s first steps towards reinventing the way Android apps work. Menus that don’t take up the screen and a focus on the content; we simply cannot wait to see more.
