Samsung’s GALAXY S5 Gets Another Price Cut; Now Selling For Rs 43,499 Online

New price tag makes sense for the plasticy flagship and now leaves only the HTC One M8 in the premium device segment.

Samsung’s GALAXY S5 has received yet another price cut. This time around it’s a much bigger one, with the device now available at online retailer Flipkart for Rs 43499 only. If you have been waiting to buy a GALAXY S5 but were not completely satisfied by the price tag, now is a good time to go in for one.

The last time around, the Samsung GALAXY S5’s price tag had dropped by a only few thousands to Rs 46,450. Samsung denied that they had anything to do with the price drop. Later, Samsung introduced a buyback offer wherein they offered up to Rs 7500 for an older handset in exchange for a shiny new S5.

This time around Flipkart seems so have bought down the price even further to Rs 43,499 which makes us wonder why is there such a price drop in the first place? Worldwide, the GALAXY S5 seems to be doing pretty well; but here in India, Samsung has not broken any previous sales records till now.

According to us, the price drop makes sense because the device certainly does not appear to be a premium one. The HTC One M8 which sells for a hefty Rs 49900 looks premium thanks to its metal clad body and for now seems to be the only Android flagship that qualifies for the same. Sony has yet to launch its flagship here in India. Sony’s Xperia Z2s have just begun selling in Europe which means it will be quite some time till they start doing the same here in India.
