AUO Announces The World’s Highest Resolution WQHD AMOLED Screen

The stunning display touches a jaw-dropping 512ppi and has been developed for mobiles.

We all expected such a news headline from Samsung at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) back in February. Sadly, nobody back then was ready with a QHD display, other than OPPO, who was busy leaking out photographs, building a buzz for its Find 7 worldwide.

Well, AUO (AU Optronics) a Chinese display manufacturer seems to have taken that crown from Samsung and created a 5.7 inch WQHD display. It would certainly be stunning to look at considering that this display panel manages to cram in 3,686,400 pixels into a 5.7 inch diagonal screen. Think using a magnifying glass to find those pixels as they won’t be visible to the naked eye (bye bye Retina).

Apart from the UHD TV’s that were on display at the CITE 2013 China, AUO also displayed a 5 inch AMOLED panel with a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Well the cool part is that it was just 0.57mm in thickness and featured a 10 point multi-touch system.

Additionally the company formerly known as Acer Display Technology also spoke about some products that will eventually reach your Android Wear powered smartwatch. They revealed that a 1.6 inch AMOLED display is in the making and also talked about the advantages of AMOLED screens in wearables focussing on low power consumption.
