Google Play And Developer Editions of the HTC One (M8) Announced

Now there's a 'One' to suit everyone's needs.

Us plebs have drooled over the new HTC One's (M8) sexy metal body and even over the accessories that it came with. Somehow HTC wasn't done raising eyebrows and has got the purists and intellects raging with two more versions of the phone - a Google Play edition and a Developer edition.

The Developer edition is basically the same phone with some software tweaks. This opens up the phone for developers to test and build apps optimised for the device. This version of the handset is priced at $649 (approx. 40,000 INR) and comes with the same internals as the original HTC One.

The Google Play edition is the one that many people looking to upgrade from the Nexus 4 or 5 would be interested in. This version of the phone, comes with a cleaner and faster AOSP UI which is identical to the one found on the Nexus 5. Since the HTC One (M8) has the best specifications of any phone available in the market, those who would like to upgrade will definitely rush to get 'One'.

The GPe (Google Play edition) HTC One, just like the phone it replaces will be second in line when it comes to getting the latest Android software upgrades. Therefore, it makes for a great buy if you want a non-skinned version of Android running on your phone.

At $699 (approx. 43,000 INR) you will get Android minus all those finicky HTC Sense features. Google will retain the Dual Camera module of the One, while the interface will have some modifications when compared to the basic camera software on the Nexus 5.

So which ‘One’ do you choose?
