MWC 2014: Sony Adds Mid-Range Xperia M2 To Its Smartphone Portfolio

The 4.6-inch Android smartphone to cost around Rs 18,000 in India.

 

After unveiling flagship smartphone and tablet, Sony has rolled out a mid-range handset in the Xperia range. Tagged as Xperia M2, the handset has a rather slim 8.6 mm waist-line for a 4G device. Apart from that, it also packs quite a punch with a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset. The phone sports a 4.8 inch qHD screen (540x960 pixels). It has 1 GB RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, microSD card expansion slot that allows for storage of up to 32 GB. For photography, there's an 8 megapixel camera module on the back which comes with handy features like Auto Scene recognition and HDR shooting modes. Also included is Social Live and Timeshift burst. Additionally Sony will also offer three free movies from Sony Pictures along with its Music Unlimited Service with a free trial period of 30 days depending on region.

The handset comes in a dual-SIM variant called Xperia M2 Dual. Both devices come with a sufficient 2300 mAh battery units. The pricing and availability details haven't been confirmed, but the handsets are expected to cost around EUR 220 (Rs 18,000).
