Acer Revives 'Liquid' Smartphone Series With Z4 And E3

Will these new entrants hit the right notes for the Taiwanese manufacturer?

After teasing it for a last few days, Acer has finally unveiled two new smartphones. The two phones are set to fit in different segments — mid-range and budget. The first one is the Liquid Z4, which is a budget smartphone, sports 4-inch FWVGA (854x480 pixel) capacitive touch display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz  dual-core processor running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The phone is supposed to be the successor to the Liquid Z5. At the back, the Z4 packs in a 5 megapixel camera with a bright f 2.4 lens and an LED flash. The phone comes with 4 GB of internal storage and can be expanded via microSD up to 32 GB.

The second phone dubbed the Liquid E3 is actually the successor to last year’s Liquid E2 and is targeted at mid-range market. The phone sports a 4.7-inch display with 1280x720 pixel array and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Oddly, the E3 runs on an earlier version of Android’s Jelly Bean V 4.2, which is strange considering that the budget Z4 comes with 4.3 on board. The phone also packs a 13 MP primary camera coupled with an LED flash and a 2 MP front-facing camera with another LED flash (for all those selfies).

Both phones come with the new AcerRAPID key technology that reportedly enhances single-handed control for some of the main functions of the device such as unlocking or answering calls. Both the phones will also boast of DTS audio. The Liquid Z4 will be available in Essential White and Titanic Black in April in Europe and will be priced at 99 Euro (8460 INR). The Liquid E3 on the other hand will be priced at 199 Euros (17000 INR) and will be on sale, right about the same time.
