Whatsapp On Windows Phone Will Soon Get The Long-Awaited Update

If custom-backgrounds is what you have been waiting for, that is...

Whatsapp is probably the second app you would download to your Windows Phone device after Facebook. With billions of users in tow, Whatsapp took over BBM eons ago with features that made BBM look obsolete and also more importantly because BBM back then was limited to BlackBerry devices. WPCentral reports that the Beta version of Whatsapp finally saw an update. Although there’s not much to talk about, it will definitely add some zest to your messaging experience once it goes live.

The update adds a couple of features though, the first one being a neater new settings menu. The menu seems to have finally moved to the Modern UI gets you where you want to go in a single glance.

And now for the biggest UI feature, the custom backgrounds. Once updated you will finally be set free from the dark, bland background and have the freedom to add custom background either from the web via search, the camera or photo albums. Upon selection via any of the 3 methods your custom image will display universally across all chat windows in the app.

Also new to the platform will be the addition of Media Auto Download Settings and Custom Notification Sounds which should help you further personalise your Whatsapp experience on Windows Phone. Excited? Well you will have to wait a couple of weeks till it gets released.
