Nokia Lumia Icon: A Promising Windows Phone That You Cannot Buy!

The Verizon exclusive handset flaunts an HD AMOLED screen and 20 megapixel 'PureView' camera.

Thanks to multiple leaks, we weren’t surprised when Nokia announced the Lumia Icon with a sudden design refresh. The Verizon exclusive device has quite an impressive spec sheet. In fact, it's Nokia’s best hardware offering yet (for normal hands that is). Retailing for a $299 with a two year contract, the handset seems to be an all-rounder of sorts. Design-wise off course it looks reminiscent to the Lumia 928 with the addition of a metal strip running round the corners. Going by the looks, it looks quite good.

Up till now Nokia’s best hardware offering was available only on the monstrous Lumia 1520. The 6-inch device even though quite capable is not everyone's cup of tea. So that makes the Icon, the next best thing. The most impressive bit of the Icon is definitely the eye-popping 5-inch 441 ppi Full HD ClearBlack AMOLED screen which is backed by a 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon (with 2 GB RAM).

The next attention grabbing feature will be the 20 megapixel 'PureView' camera that shoots at the standard two resolutions—20 megapixels and 5 MP version for sharing. It’s an f/2.4, OIS lens setup coupled with a dual LED flash that is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30 fps. Performance as per the given set up should be great. All in all the Nokia Lumia Icon is the perfect Lumia device you cannot buy… in India (yet).
