Indian Innovates RayBans That Charge Your Phone

Ubiquitous Charging.

We’ve all heard of wearable solar panels at least on backpacks, here comes a simple yet ingenious innovation by a US based Indian designer — Sayalee Kaluskar; who’s designed a pair of sunglasses that lets you charge your mobile phone. Way to go Sayalee Kaluskar!

The innovative product called Rayban Shama Sunglasses, has two solar panels on either side of the arms of the eyewear. When your phone’s running out of juice, all you have to do is detach one of the arms and plug it in the charging port of your phone. For now this design works only with the iPhone.

The innovation is part of a project by Miami Ad School, San Francisco and is not commercially available yet. If you’d like to know more or get in touch with Sayalee Kaluskar, head on over to her website. She hails with Distinction from N.M.V. Junior College for Science, finished her B.F.A in Visualisation from Bharati Vidyapeeth and finally is at Miami Ad School for diploma in Art direction. Her linkedin page is here to know more.

We just hope that we won’t be left singing “I Won’t let the Sun go down on me” by Nik Kershaw, once the sunglasses themselves run out of juice.
