Apple Unveils iPad mini 2 With More Muscle And Retina Display

Will this end up being an iPad killer for all previous generation Apple tablets?

Along side the all-new iPad Air, the most valuable tech company in the world, Apple has announced the iPad mini 2. With this latest iteration, Apple has addressed the low-pixel density issue that bothers a lot of nitpicky folks. The 7.9-incher now crams in 1536x2048 pixels, which brings its pixel density to approx 325 ppi.

Processing muscle is another aspect where the mini gets a serious upgrade. Apple has bumped up the innards from the humble dual-core Cortex-A9 processor to the spanking-new A7 chipset. It features a 5 megapixel rear snapper, while there's a 1.2 MP front-facing camera for video calls (using Skype, Fring, etc). Battery specs are unknown, but Apple claims that it's more than enough to keep the device powered on for over 10 hours. On the software front, the Apple iPad mini 2 runs iOS 7 out of the box.

Similar to its elder sibling, the iPad mini comes with 16 GB to 128 GB storage option. It will be available in Silver & White and Space Grey & Black variants. The tablet will launch in the US by the end of November. The  Wi-Fi only base model will cost $400 (Rs 25,000 approx), while the LTE one will set you back for $530 (Rs 33,000 approx). Given its processing muscle and features, the iPad mini 2 might prove to be an iPad killer for all the previous generation Apple tablets.
