Sony seems to be pulling out all stops to promote its water and dustproof tablet, as it put on sale a special kitchen edition on its US store.  It’s the same of tablet, but ships with some interesting accessories that act as your cooking companion.

As Sony puts it: "It can withstand even the toughest kitchen environment with its durable glass, carbon fiber panel and revolutionary, water-resistant design. Rinse away spills and sticky fingerprints with ease by running the tablet under fresh water or even submerge for up to 30 minutes". So you can be sloppy around it too, but not too much.

The slate comes preloaded will several "premium cooking apps" such as BigOven, Evernote Food; Juicing Recipes; Tips & More! ; Food Planner Pro; iGrill Pro; and Out of Milk Shopping List (just in case you need to go grocery shopping) to name a few.

Of these, the iGrill app connects to the similar-named device via Bluetooth, and alerts you through your tablet when your meat is cooked to perfection.

For those not in the know, the 10.1" slate runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, and is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm S4 quad-core processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. This Wi-Fi only slate comes with 32 GB of internal storage, and Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC support along with an 8 MP rear and a 2 MP front camera.
