Canon Brings Out Four New PowerShots

Unveils three high-end and one budget camera, no word on availability in India.

 

Taking its PowerShot range of point and shoots further, Canon has added four new cameras to the lineup. These include the PowerShot G16, S120, S200, and SX170 IS. The first two boast of the latest DIGIC 6 image processor, the S200 packs in a DIGIC 5 while the SX camera is high-zoom budget model comes with a DIGIC 4 processor.

The PowerShot G16 and S120 are top-end models with a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor that support 12.2 fps continuous shooting in 1080p, and boast of faster autofocus (AF) capabilities. The cameras also come with Dynamic IS to capture blur-free video. Apart from video support, the camera also packs in effects such as Star shooting mode (to capture star trails), Background Defocus (for more pronounced DoF), and HDR (with 5 effects: Natural, Art Standard, Art Vivid, Art Bold, and Art Embossed). The cameras support 5x Optical Zoom (10x with Canon's new ZoomPlus feature) and you can shoot at f-stop values as low as f/1.8. Both cameras support Wi-Fi, and can be paired with Android or iOS smartphones with the CameraWindow app. Both cameras can be used underwater with the WP-DC52 and WP-DC51 cases respectively, which are sold as separate accessories.

 

The PowerShot S200, which is yet another addition to the top-end range, boasts of a 10.1 mp, 5x optical zoom, CCD Sensor, f/2.0 f-stop, DIGIC 5 image processor, high ISO values (up to 6400), intelligent IS (to reduce blur in videos), Full HD movie capture, and Wi-Fi support.

Those looking for entry-level point and shoots instead, can check out the PowerShot SX170 IS. It packs in 16 megapixels with a DIGIC 4 processor, 16x Optical Zoom (32x with ZoomPlus), and HD movies capture with stereo sound.
