Apple May Unveil iPhone 5S On 10th September

Low-cost version of the handset could also be launched.

Apple insider sources have indicated that the company is slated to hold an event on 10th September, when it will presumably launch its next flagship iPhone 5S. In addition to that, it could also launch the rumoured low-cost version of the handset known in the realm of rumours as the iPhone 5C.

As has been discovered in the iOS 7 code, the iPhone 5S could feature a fingerprint scanner built in its Home button, which will identify its owner to unlock the phone. Additional analysis of the code has also revealed that the camera can now record at 120 fps as against the current 30 fps, which will allow the new iPhone to capture slow motion movies at 25% of normal speed.

The iPhone 5C, which has long been speculated, is said to be made from inexpensive plastic to reduce cost. Apple has found itself struggling in the emerging markets, where pricing plays a deal-breaker. Low and mid-range Android smartphones currently rule the roost here and the Cupertino-based company has been trying to break into this market, by bringing out various schemes such as exchange offers and EMIs. However, since it had no low-cost variant so far, the schemes aren't proving as effective as the company would have hoped. With the speculated iPhone 5C, Apple could finally bring its iOS-based smartphone to the masses. Of course, we only hope that its pricing for this handset doesn't play spoilsport. In any case, it is less than a month to go for the said event, so keep your fingers crossed.
