Samsung + Jackie Chan = Samsung Galaxy Folder Phone

Samsung's newest Android flip phone.

Amongst much creative diarrhoea as far as handsets and phone names go, Samsung launches yet another device and this time an Android flip-phone called the Samsung GALAXY Folder (it folds, get it!). And this time they roped in Jackie Chan as Brand Ambassador (no...we love Jackie) to boost the big charity concert event akin to the big launch of previous generation SCH-W999.

The non-premium SCH-W2013 flip-phone has real premium specs attached to it...

  • Dual screen 3.7" Super AMOLED touchscreen with 480x800 pixels.
  • 8 MP main camera, 2 MP front-facing camera.
  • 1.4 GHz quad-core CPU.
  • 2 GB RAM.
  • 16 GB internal storage.
  • microSD slot with support for up to 64 GB.
  • 1850 mAh battery.
  • Dual-SIM (CDMA/GSM).
  • 117.2 (l) x 60 (w) x 16.83 (d) mm (twice the thickness of iPhone 5 at 7.6 mm)

There is no official cost yet. While we love the satisfying flip action of flip-phones and hardware buttons, but the phone is quite the odd ball with 2 touchscreens, flip functionality on a touch-centred operating system, and that too with dual SIM. Looks like Samsung really took a page or two from 'The Homer Car' prototype. Thankfully Samsung is marketing this monstrosity for China market, not that India doesn't have it fair share phones that stick out like a sore thumb. Samsung GALAXYMega, we are looking at you!
