Would You Buy A Smartphone Named After Narendra Modi?

Android handset Smart Namo honours the Gujarat CM; comes with quad-core CPU, 5" screen with Gorilla Glass 2, and 13 mp camera.

 

An independent group of fans of Shri Narendra Modi has come up with an idea of a smartphone in honour of the Gujarat Chief Minister. The group named Smart Namo (the second word being an acronym for Narendra Modi and Next Generation Android Mobile Odyssey) includes a businessman from Gujarat with a mobile business in China. It is likely that the idea has been borrowed from the communist nation too, where some products are branded by the names of their leader.

The upcoming Android smartphone is also to be named Smart Namo with a "Shri Narendra Modi signature edition" in the works. The production plant is to be setup in Gujarat soon and the design of the handset to be finalised next month with approval from Mr Modi himself. At launch, the device would cost Rs 16,000 for the highest version and would go as low as Rs 1000 for the feature phone.

The specs of this smartphone are not disappointing at all, at least on paper. It is said to feature a quad-core 1.5 GHz Mediatek MT6589 chipset with a 13 MP rear camera. The 5" display would be protected by Gorilla Glass 2. The good thing is that it will try to break the RAM and internal storage ceiling of low-cost handsets by providing a choice of versions having varying RAM/ROM setups that start from 1 GB to 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB of ROM. The photo shows it sports looks similar to most Android smartphones, that have been following the Samsung GALAXY S3 models.
